Before Your Tan

Spray tans require your help with prep! If you want the best results possible, you'll want to do the following steps before your session!

Your tan is the very LAST stop! Try to complete ALL other services at least 24 hours before your tan, such as manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, eyelashes, Botox etc. Don't worry, your nails won't get stained with us! *If you are extra sensitive to waxing I recommend 24-48 hours before the tan if possible. In some cases, these prior beauty services may be ok to receive on the same day as the tan prior to the tan if you have no other choice. However, I NEVER recommend receiving any of these services AFTER the tan. Proceed with that choice at your own risk!

1) Shower, shave and exfoliate the night before, and preferably NOT right before. Exfoliating the skin is the most important step for a flawless tan outcome!

Avoid wearing any lotion, deodorant, makeup or any products to your session.

Wear dark, loose-fitting long pants, a baggy shirt and loose shoes or flip-flops to your appointment. Do NOT wear jeans, leggings, dresses or anything compression tight. Shorts are also not recommended if you can help it.

Dove soap user? Ditch the Dove as soon as possible! It will create a barrier to your tan. Olay bodywash, bar soap & products containing oils are a no-go too! You can figure this out by checking ingredients on the labels of your products. You want to avoid oil based products and stick with water based products. For example, a water based product will say "water" or "aqua" as it's first ingredient.

*You can find a list of the products we recommend under the "Frequently Asked Questions" tab!

Please be advised there is a small percentage of people whose skin may not react favorably to a spray tan. For example- severely dry skin, recently using retinol or skin resurfacing products, Accutane, recent sunburn , eczema, psoriasis etc. Please discontinue these products at least 7 days before your session; we can also avoid spraying the treated areas if preferred.

During Your Tan

Not sure what to wear during the tan? You can wear as much or as little as you'd like! Bikini, bra, thong, nude…We don’t care! But whatever you leave on, you will have tan lines from, and that cannot be changed afterwards. So please don't leave anything on that you don't want a tan line left over from.

There is no need to be embarrassed or self conscious with me for any of your services. I have been doing this professionally since 2008 not to mention working at a hospital for 8 years with patients. It is of utmost importance to me to make each one of my clients feel welcome, safe and comfortable. I am truly here to help and love helping people feel good about themselves.

Before beginning, we will discuss your desired color and darkness to ensure you are feeling confident when the session is complete! You will be guided through various positions to stand, as I apply the airbrush tan.

The entire process takes less than 15 minutes and off you glow!

I Got My Tan. Now What?

Shower or rinse only at the time your I advise you to, and yes, this is important! Your instructions will be differ depending on if you choose a regular 8 hour formula or a rapid tan. Remember there is further in depth information about those on the booking appointment description and FAQ's.

Prior to your 1st rinse or shower, do NOT touch your tan and avoid skin-to-skin contact. Do not get wet. Keep covered in weather that will cause you to get wet prior to your first rinse/shower. Do not submerge any body parts in water so for example... no doing dishes. No exposure to heavy sweating, so no rigorous exercise if you can help it.

Once you rinse or shower for the first time, use warm water and NO soap directly on skin if it's a rapid tan. You will rinse off the top coat, also known as the cosmetic bronzer. Use your hands to brush the water across your body until the water runs clear down the drain, ensuring all of your cosmetic bronzer coat is washed off. Don't worry, this is not your spray tan washing away! If booking the "Keep it Clear Tan", you will not see any cosmetic bronzer wash down the drain.

Gently blot your skin with a towel to dry and moisturize immediately after.

Worried your tan looks lighter after you rinsed it? It totally will! Your tan takes a full 24 hours to see the final result.

Wait about 24 hours to shower with soap or body wash after your appointment.

Your tan needs moisture to last! Moisturize at least once a day but if you can ...every morning and night will prolong the life of your tan.

AFTER your tan, avoid the following as much as possible, but if you're going on a fun vacation to the beach or pool, just let us know and we'll give you some tips for prolonging your glow:

  • Ocean, hot tub/jacuzzis and swimming pools.

  • Native brand body wash, or any washes containing AHA's or exfoliants.

  • Exfoliating products and loofahs.

  • Exercise/sweating for 24 hours, but please be aware that sweat may affect your tan even if you wait longer than 24 hours to sweat. The sweat and friction may rub off certain areas sooner than others.

  • Perfume or any sprays for 24 hours

  • Dove, Olay body wash or any soaps/skin detergents that are oil based

  • Lotions or products containing oils and/or oil based

*Spray Tan Tip: The instant cosmetic bronzer that you see upon application is like makeup! It will build up/move around or smudge and may appear imperfect. It is important to wait until after the first initial rinse or shower and full soap shower to see the real final results!
